Chris Bates
Research Scientist
Chris joined IHMC in January 2024 as a research scientist working with Dr. Ian Perera and his team in the Ocala office.
His research spans cognitive science (computational models of perception, memory, attention) and AI/machine learning (automated research and problem solving).
Chris earned his bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering at Purdue University. He earned his Ph.D. in cognitive science at the University of Rochester and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at Harvard University before joining IHMC.
In his free time, he enjoys rock climbing and learning languages.
