Senior Research Scientist
JP Errico joined IHMC in February 2025 as a Senior Research Scientist.
JP is a seasoned professional. Having served as a C-Suite member and Board Member in several healthcare companies, including the Founding Chief Executive Officer of start-ups including SpineCore, Inc. (sold to Stryker Spine in 2005 where he held a General Manager role in the acquired division), and ElectroCore, Inc. (which he led the public offering effort in 2018 – NASDAQ:ECOR). He has also served as a Founding Board Member, C-Suite Officer, and/or advisor for multiple private and public companies, including K2 Medical (formerly NASDAQ: KTWO), Morphogenesis, Inc. (now TuHura Biosciences – NASDAQ: HURA), and Ondine Biomedical (AIM: OBI). He is also the inventor of more than 250 U.S. Patents & Patent Applications, including ElectroCore’s primary intellectual property portfolio relating to vagus nerve stimulation for multiple medical and wellness indications, including cluster and migraine headaches, for which the technology has received FDA clearances.
His educational background is as impressive and extensive as his professional career. In 1990, he received his undergraduate degree in aeronautical engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and worked at the Air Force National Laboratory, Lincoln Laboratories while a student. He also holds law and mechanical/materials engineering graduate degrees from Duke University, which he received simultaneously in 1993. He trained as a patent attorney in New York and authored a treatise on international intellectual property law, published in 1995.
More recently, he authored chapters in Neuromodulation, 2nd Ed., and Vagus Nerve Stimulation, both textbooks published by Elsevier, as well as The Vagus-Immune Connection, a popular science book for biohackers and practicing healthcare providers. He is currently the co-host of The Health Upgrade podcast, with Dr. Navaz Habib, which showcases interviews with world-class experts in functional medicine, longevity, health, high performance, and functional movement.
His research interests include the impact of Vagus Nerve Stimulation on neurodevelopment in utero, through childhood, and for adults, and specifically the prevention of conditions including ASD and schizophrenia, as well as the optimization of brain developmental and learning potential. All of which make JP a perfect collaborative partner.
