Research Associate
Ben joined IHMC in January 2024 as a Research Associate with the human machine teaming group. He earned a bachelor’s degree in computer science from the University of West Florida. Currently, he works with Dr. Matthew Johnson on human-machine teaming projects with a focus on the ONR Team Aware Collaborative Assistants project, which has the goal of developing collaborative AI-enabled assistants to enhance team performance in dynamic data-intensive environments.
Ben began as an IHMC intern with Matt Johnson on the DARPA Artificial Social Intelligence for Successful Teams project from May 2022 until December 2023. Most of his work as an intern involved data analysis and developing software tools, simulations, and visualizations that implemented effective automated teammates and supported the understanding of teamwork and team performance.
His research interests include human-machine teamwork and machine learning, as well as his interests in software engineering technologies, web development, and user interface design.
In his free time, he enjoys reading, running, hiking, traveling, and cooking.
