Brandon Patterson
Research Associate
Brandon Patterson joined IHMC as a Research Associate in 2024 working with Dr. Brady DeCouto and Dr. Ian Perera and their research projects. He has previously worked with Perera on projects focused on augmented intelligence and machine learning.
Patterson has used his skills in machine learning, simulation, game design, and software engineering to help develop platforms for contracted projects at IHMC. Currently, he is developing computer-based platforms for an Air Force Research Lab-funded program that will measure skills related to adaptability, savviness, and performance with artificial intelligence and technology.
Patterson earned a master’s degree in computer engineering from Full Sail University, where he is a course director responsible for the development and maintenance of upper level software engineering classes. His professional background in game development and software engineering has included work on flight simulation software for various aircraft, as well as products that involved database interfaces, rendering systems, and developer tools.
One of the things that drew him to IHMC was the altruistic use technology. In this field, his often found the best interest of the user to be a secondary concern. Upon hearing of IHMC’s mission, he was excited to be a part of an organization that is trying to level our collective experience to do good in the world. In his free time, he enjoys all kinds of gaming, playing the piano, bike riding, painting miniatures, reading, letterlocking, and travel.
