Big Data by Dr. Kristy Hollingshead Seitz, IHMC

In March, the presentation of “Big Data” was led by Kristy Hollingshead Seitz, Research Scientist at IHMC. Third and fourth graders learned about how computers efficiently handle a lot of data. Fifth and sixth graders learned to use data analysis tools provided by the company Rapid Insight. Both groups used fictional data sets about werewolves to perform hands-on activities related to the analysis of existing data, and to use that analysis to make predictions.
