Our December topic was “Candy Chromatography”. Students did several hands-on experiments with paper chromatography, a laboratory technique for separating elements of a mixture. One experiment involved identifying differences in various kinds of black ink to detect a forgery, in another we saw the differences in the dyes of various colors of M&M’s or Skittles.
