General view from the main room, showing the far 'wall of doors'. The big sentry-box closet will eventually have matching doors. All cupboard doors are hickory. The plasterwork is not finished on the wall extension, obviously. The island is temporary: it will be replaced by a 'T' shape combining a work island opposite the sink with a dining table projection where the barstools are.

View from living room showing reveal of far wall. Ignore the clutter.
View as you walk into kitchen area. The wall of doors will also cover the laundry, forming a seamless hickory storage wall surrounding the fridge. All handles are black satin oiled brass, which feels very silky.
Same position, rotated left, facing window. We need to replace that orange door with something in hickory, or maybe painted to match the walls.
View back towards the stove. At the left is the side of the tall cupboard visible in the first picture. All the cupboard exteriors are finished in cherry, interiors in maple. The work surfaces will be stone (currently soapstone is planned) and jotoba, in various combinations. The walls will be painted a cool sage green, and below the cabinets covered in green glass mosaic.
Same view with lights on. The ceiling and oversink lights will be replaced, probably by pendant halogens over the island with upfacing 'wash' lights near the ceiling.

Robin and Jenea preparing dinner. The stove is a DCS pro gas range with 5 burners that can simmer a white sauce for an hour but also turn up to 16Kbtu when needed. The vent is italian, I forget the make.
View of the new back room, showing the same cabinet doors. The floor in here is jotoba, which will also be used for the surface of the kitchen island and some cabinet trim. and the bookshelves (which you can't see) are cherry.

Claire preparing to surprise her father as he walks by. This cupboard stops at the same height as the wall cabinets, allowing light from the west-facing living room windows to spill over into the kitchen during the day.
